Support in unexpected places

So Dagny is still breastfeeding. I don't have a problem with it but since I announced I was pregnant, I've been getting a lot of flack about it. I expect support from LLL but pretty much have given up expecting it anywhere else.

Even my husband has given me some grief. Last week we took Dagny in for a well baby visit. While I was out of the room the Dr told Mike that I was just asking to have preterm labor by continuing to nurse. After trying to convince him that it was safe, I finally had to google nursing while pregnant and send him links all stating that in a normal pregnancy nursing is safe.

Last night was our Parents as Teachers visit. It came up that Dagny was still nursing and not sleeping through the night. Jill's response was to ask me how I was doing with being pregnant and nursing and to make sure I was taking care of myself. Jill even told me a story about her experience nursing. Her kids are 18 months apart. A few months after the baby came home her oldest looked at the baby nursing and said "Mommy I would like to eat". Jill's response was OK, he took a few drinks and said "oh yeah, I don't really like this anymore". Its nice to know that there is another time and place where I won't have to cringe when the topic of breastfeeding comes up.
